I settled in Hollinswood, Telford with my late wife and
family in March 1990 prior to completing 22 years in the Army finally retiring
in January 1994. After retiring from the
Army I went to work at the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, formally the
Aerospace Museum, retiring in April 2010 as the Operations Manager.
In the mid-nineties I became a Councillor for Hollinswood
and Randlay Parish Council. In 2005 I
became a Councillor for Stirchley and Brookside Parish Council and in 2013 I
also became a Councillor for Great Dawley Town Council and remain on these
councils today, serving on various committees.
In 2011 I was selected and elected to serve on Telford and
Wrekin Council representing The Nedge Ward encompassing Hollinswood, Randlay
and part of Stirchley including Holmer Lake and again in 2015 and 2019. During this time I have served on various
committees and outside bodies. Since the
election in 2019 I now serve on the following committees and outside bodies.
of the Armed Forces Military Covenant for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin
Scrutiny Committee – Communities, Equalities and Accessibility
Chair Licensing Committee
of Councillors – English Region Branch
Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Country Park (Local Nature Reserve) Management Committee
Gorge World Heritage Site Steering Group
Gorge Museum Trust
Gorge Countryside Trust
Park Academy Joint / Community Use Management Committee
As to my remit as a Councillor I hold weekly surgeries
within The Nedge Ward, along with ‘In Your Street’ surgeries and undertake Ward
walks with my fellow Nedge Ward Councillors, Vanessa Holt and Nathan England.
Finally, I do not consider myself as a ‘politician’ but as
a ‘representative’ for all residents with The Nedge Ward and the Malinslee Ward
of Great Dawley Town Council.
Although not a councillor role I am the Chair of The
Friends of Hollinswood and Randlay Valley.
